September ended with a huge Oktoberfest celebration for the residents at The Pointe. They used the traditional fall event as the inspiration for the ‘Theme Meal’ this month. The kitchen cooked up some traditional favorites of bratwurst and kraut, spare ribs, warm German potato salad and roasted carrots. For those who wanted it, there was also some iced cold beer to wash it all down. Each resident also received a jumbo, German style pretzel that was wrapped and waiting for them at their seat.

After the meal, the dining room was turned into a music hall and the residents enjoyed the performance of Bill the Band. Bill played all of the traditional polkas and had the crowd singing with him from the beginning. Several of the residents found a partner and danced in the middle of the room, while some danced at their tables. After the performance, a gift basket full of a variety of German goodies and beers was raffled off. The winner was Florence Tringle. Congratulations Florence!! 

Next month, the residents have decided to go “Old Broadway Glamor” as the theme. Check back for more details in the coming weeks.
