Manager Training Site
During the week of October 24th, The Pointe at Kilpatrick became one of the first training sites for a new program developed by the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition (AALC). The program is a Manager in Training class and was developed to encourage and recruit strong leaders to become managers at supportive living communities throughout the state. "We are proud to have one of the best affordable housing programs in the country right here in Illinois. This manager's course will only add credibility to those overseeing our Supportive Living communities," explained Nancy McCaffrey, AALC Board member and Corporate Director of The Pointe.

 Concetta "Connie" Fama was born in South Boston, Massachusetts on September 16, 1920. Raised by a single mother, Connie, the eldest of four children, became her sibling's caretaker at the age of 9 when the "Great Depression" hit. Her mother worked 2 jobs to keep the family going. Connie became a second mother to her brothers Leo and Carmen and her sister, Anna, all of whom are still living. Read More »

 Although Renea Orr, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), has only been with The Pointe a little over 3 months, she has quickly made a place for herself here. With several years worth of experience working in nursing homes, Renea brings with her the knowledge and dedication it takes to be a caregiver. Already impressed Executive Director, Zoe Espitia describes Renea as "…always having a gentle approach, regardless of how her day is going. We can always count on her."

 Nancy McCaffrey, Operations Director, pictured with Wayne Smallwood, Executive Director of the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition (AALC)at the AALC's annual member rececption. Nancy was inducted as the AALC's new President beginning in 2012. Through advancement of best practices, provision of strong leadership and development of strategic partnerships and alliances, the Coalition aims to advance Illinois' Supportive Living Program as the premier affordable assisted living model in the country.

For a third year, The Pointe at Kilpatrick received a Crestwood Beautification Contest award. Issued by the Village of Crestwood Recreation Commission, the award is given to both private residences, as well as businesses, for maintaining their property and adding to the aesthetic value of the community.
The Pointe at Kilpatrick recently hosted the SAPA (Suburban Activity Professionals Association) meeting. The group meets on a regular basis and is a creative forum for sharing ideas of events and activities for residents in senior living communities. Program Director, Angie Garbaczewski helps maintain the group's goal, which is to implement activities that are not only fun, but mentally, physically and/or socially stimulating.
