The Pointe has exceeded the expectations of most in the local community. In the early days, some expressed concern when learning the building was “affordable” and had images of a stereotype that , proudly, The Pointe has helped to squash. The Pointe transparently brings together those who may have exhausted their retirement savings, needing the support of financial assistance through Medicaid , with others who have saved a nest egg and continue to pay rent through their private funds. The difference is simply a tenant statement and nothing more. The culture of the building over the course of the 7 years has never been to cater to one individual over another and the environment remains comfortable, homey, clean and elegant for all. A few accomplishments that have been achieved over the recent years have been consistently earning the “Best In Class" designation,(as verified by a third party quality assurance company who compares housing across the country for older adults). Monthly phone calls are made to current and past families/residents for feedback as to their satisfaction. At the end of 12 months, The Pointe has consistently averaged in the 95% or higher rating on most categories. The accolades are not limited to what is just going on inside either. Three different years the Village of Crestwood has voted The Pointe to be a recipient of their Beautification Award. The honor is given to local businesses and homes that exhibit exceptional care of their outdoor presentation, thus making the community a better place to live and work. This recognition is highly attributed to Dan Oganovich, our Maintenance and Physical Plant Director who keeps the grounds immaculate and even added a small fish pond to which he maintains as well. Along with Shirley and Ellen, Dan has also been with The Pointe since the beginning. Our most recent accomplishment came two months ago, in December 2010, when The Pointe received a perfect rating from the State after completing a week long inspection. This is not the first time for a deficiency free survey, yet the staff never take for granted the privilege of participating in the Supportive Living program and work diligently for perfection. The driving force behind this inspection is the wonderful and compassionate nursing team led by Vicie Johnson, RN. Vicie is also a pioneer of The Pointe and has worked for the company a total of 26 years. Although awards and recognition are a nice way to validate good work, to date our biggest accomplishment by far is the family we have created among both residents and staff. It is a close knit community – each person looking after the other. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to the future of making new friends and providing a safe and friendly home. We would like to recognize those staff member s who have remained with us since December 2003:
