The Pointe t Kilpatrick - Crestwood, IL - Angie Garbaczewski, Program Director - Angie Garbaczewski, Program Director

Angie will be celebrating her one year anniversary with The Pointe on the 22nd of this month. Born in Chicago and raised in Brighton Park, Angie is familiar with all of the wonderful things this large area has to offer. Though she had limited experience working with seniors directly, Angie quickly embraced her position and the program has never been stronger.  Angie says, "I have always had respect and admiration for the older generations and I really do enjoy helping people.  It immediately felt natural to be doing what I was doing here."  The residents all agree.  Angie's tireless pursuit of finding new activities, events and outings to attend have given the residents a multitude of experiences to choose from.  Whether it be a fishing trip on a sunny day or watching local dancers and singers perform live in our community lounge, Angie has made sure there is never a dull moment.

In addition to her one year anniversary with The Pointe, Angie also just celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband, Jim, co-owner of Chesdans retaurant.  If you are not familiar with Chesdans, it is a Chicago area landmark Itailan restaurant opened in 1946 by Jim's father and great uncle.  He and his brother Dan now own and operate the family business which has since been relocated to Homer's Glen, IL.  When not at The Pointe, Angie can usually be found at the restuarant, helping out wherever is needed.  She admits that she loves being there and the loyal base of customers have become yet another family to Angie and her husband.  "The restuarant has given me the opportunity to meet so many different people with different stories.  Many of the performers that have visited The Pointe are people that Angie has come in contact through the restaurant, be it directly or indirectly.

When talking to Angie, it is easy to understand her passion for the work she does.  Her frist prioirt has always been to raise, her and Jim's 3 children; James 23, Teage 22 and Scout 16.  Family is everything to Angie and she carries that into everything she does.  She has been bringing that feeling with her to the restaurant for years and for the last year has brought it with her everyday to The Pointe at Kilpatrick.  Angie confessed that a year ago she "didn't know what she wanted to be when she grew up.  I didn't know what my purpose was.  Now, being at The Pointe, I know."
