The Pointe Welcomes Dr Rudawski PDF Print E-mail

The Pointe t Kilpatrick - Crestwood, IL - Dr RudawskiThe Pointe at Kilpatrick would like to announce the addition of our new Psychologist, Dr. Christina Rudawski.  She comes to us from Oak Forest Psychological Services and is available to our residents at The Pointe every Tuesday from 10:00am-4:00pm. In addition to individual counseling, Dr. Rudawski has also offered to share her expertise in the future during family forums.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Rudawski first got her degree in library science and was a medical librarian.  Later, she married and moved to Illinois.  Her first job in Chicago was at The Chicago Public Library.  She was exposed to many, different individuals who would spend each day hanging out in the library. It is there that she discovered her interest in psychology. Once her children were grown and left the house, she pursued her doctorate, that she received from Midwestern University in Downer's Grove in 2008.  Her experiences with older family members are one reason why she has turned her focus to senior adults and the issues they face.  "Seniors are very interesting. They have a wide range of life experiences and issues.", says Dr. Rudawski, "There are many ways to assist them and they respond well to psychotherapy."  Dr. Rudawski went on to describe the issues that seniors face.  The most common problems are depression, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and isolation. Of course these are all common and can occur in anyone. It are the reasons/causes that tend to be age related, such as, the loss of a loved one, loss of physical vitality and the accompanying grief that goes with these losses.  Dr. Rudawski stresses, "Seniors are from different generations so it's important to remember that there life experiences may be varied from younger individuals. It's important to 'meet them where they are'".
